Service Area Overview:

You don't have to be in direct patient care to work at Northside. Health Information Services allows you to work in a business setting and contribute to the overall success of the Northside Hospital system. Our Department, which includes Medical Records, is committed to protecting patient and staff privacy and also to giving our customer's timely, accurate access to their medical records when needed. Our Medical Records Department is state of the art, supported with progressive technology.

Position Description:

Works independently under the supervision of the HIS Coding Quality Coordinator utilizes critical thinking, applies disease process knowledge and national/NSH Coding guidelines and acceptable audit principles to coding quality audit activities. Monitors the Clintegrity 360 Compliance software system to ensure assigned audits are completed accurately and timely. Prepares reports and summarizes audit findings, including trends and patterns in coding compliance for HIS Coding Quality Coordinator. Collaborates with various aspects of the Clinical Documentation Improvement program at NSH.

Position Requirements:

REQUIRED: 1. Coding or Health Information Management Certification 2. Three (3) year experience in Acute Care coding. 3. Three (3) year experience in coding/quality auditing in hospital and/or consulting setting. 4. Data analysis and report preparation and interpretation skills 5. Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office? products. The ability to develop spreadsheets and databases, and import/export files, etc. 6. Previous experience with encoder software and EMR. PREFERRED: 1. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). 2. Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in Acute Care Coding. 3. Five (5+) years' experience in coding quality auditing in a consulting or professional auditing setting. 4. Previous experience with compliance software. Previous imaging system and/or HBOC products.
